I've just been invited to give a featured performance on the final day of the International Society of Bassists convention in San Francisco. What an amazing honor this is. I'm totally blown away. Hope to see many of my bass friends there. More info about the convention here and about the schedule here. I've got a really fun program planned, and I'll get to play with the amazing pianist, Bill Mays, something I've longed to do for two decades! This is going to be a blast!

I had a fabulous trip to Michaelstein Germany last month where I enjoyed working with outstanding students and faculty at Kaleidoskop http://www.kontrabass-kaleidoskop.de/index.php?language=en&hauptrubrik=2011&subrubrik=dozenten. What a special environment - all about openiness and resonance in all respects.

Concerto Premiere - This Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 8:15 in Ford Hall, Ithaca College, I will premiere a fabulous new concerto by composer, Dana Wilson. The concerto is in three movements and features the many languages of the double bass. From the powerful lowest register to mournful tenor melodies in the upper tessitura, the concerto showcases virtuosic filigree and funky pizzicato panache. Orchestra Director, Jeffrey Meyer, will lead the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra for this world premiere. The remainder of the program features Messiaen: Les offrandes oubliees (“The forgotten offerings”) and Shostakovich Symphony No. 5, op.47, D minor.
